Leek rust (Puccinia porri). This fungus causes the characteristic orange-brown spores on leeks and onions. The fungus cannot withstand frost: after a night frost, the fungus has disappeared. The spores hibernate on plant debris.

Control
Spray plants with horsetail spray.
Prevention
Provide enough space between the plants so that the wind has free rein and the plants can dry quickly. Do not over fertilize with nitrogen-rich manure.
