Pea moth (Laspeyresia nigricana). Butterfly with 15 mm wingspan. The larva is a yellow-green caterpillar with a black head. The butterfly lays eggs on leaves and young pods. The caterpillars invade the pods, attack the seeds and leave droppings behind. In general, these butterflies do not cause much damage.

Where to find

Control

Cut off and destroy affected pods – do not throw them on the compost pile. In case of severe infestation, mist with pyrethrum.

Prevention

Check regularly for butterflies on the plants and if so, remove them.
