Leek moth

Leek moth, a 12 mm night moth lives on leeks, shallots and onions.

Leek moth (Acrolepiopsis assectella). This 12 mm moth lives on leeks, onions and shallots. The yellowish-white caterpillars are 10 mm long and bore tunnels into the plant.
During the day, they hide on the underside of a leaf. Especially in late summer, they do damage.

Cut off affected leaves.

Prevention

An insect netting prevents the butterfly from laying eggs on the crop.
