Chard(Beta vulgaris subsp. vulgaris var. vulgaris) is also called Swiss chard. Chard can be sown from late March/early April to late July in open ground in its final spot. Chard belongs to the “forgotten vegetables”.  Chard likes soil mixed with fresh manure. Give chard the space, they can grow quite large. Easy cultivation; chard is not very susceptible to diseases and pests, but do not let the plants dry out.
