Sticky plate traps – trap plates are plastic plates coated with an adhesive. Traps, especially in yellow, are designed to catch bugs between plants. By placing sticky traps at the beginning of cultivation, they also serve as an observation system to measure the species and number of insects occurring on site.
Sticky plate traps are used to catch harmful insects such as cherry fruit fly, whitefly, leaf miner and aphid. The color yellow attracts these insects.
To prevent a useful insect like the ladybird (aphids!) from also landing on the traps, hang the traps high above the crops. After all, harmful insects are usually in the tops of the crop.
Bumblebees, bees or hoverflies notice that the sticky plates stick and do not allow themselves to be caught.
Sticky plate traps are available in a variety of sizes.
