  • Biological Pesticide

Pheromone box tree moth is a species-specific fragrance (pheromone) that lures the males of the box tree moth into a trap. By catching the males, the moth infestation will gradually decrease. This capsule contains the female sex pheromone that attracts the male moths. Once in the trap, the male moths cannot escape, let alone fertilize a female moth. These are left unfertilized, preventing them from laying eggs.
The pheromone trap is less effective when there is a real infestation: too many female moths will be flying around, making the pheromone trap amidst all those females not very attractive anymore.
To really get rid of the box tree moth with pheromone traps, you need to apply them for several years at a time.
Pheromone traps are commercially available.
