Oleander scale (Aspodiotus nerii) belongs to one of the many species of scale insects (Coccomorpha). The usually gray oleander scale lives on the somewhat older branches of woody plants. The shells of the oleander scale consist of hardened secretions and can be removed; unlike those of the soft-shelled aphid whose shell consists of the hardened back.
These scale insects sit in groups on and next to each other on the underside of leaves and on woody parts.
While sucking plant sap, the oleander scale secretes toxins that cause yellow, red or brown spots on the leaves. Later followed by leaf dieback and deformities. It also inhibits growth.

Where to find

Control

Prevention
