Summer is long gone: it is only getting colder and windier, a harbinger of weather to come. Still, everything is blooming: from the exuberant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plantenplagen.nl\/en\/plantenplagen\/dahlia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dahlias<\/a> to the delicate pink of the Japanese anemones <em>(Eriocapitella hupehensis)<\/em>. There are no more big jobs in the garden. It&rsquo;s just a matter of keeping it up. For example, bald spots in the lawn can now be repaired, spent annuals removed and dead stems cut out of the perennials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bouquets of dried flowers<\/strong> Beautiful dried bouquets can be made with the cut flowers and stems. Not everything is suitable, but with a little imagination a lot is useful. The spent panicles of the yarrow<em> (Achillea millefolium)<\/em> dry excellently and then mix very well with the silvery shining annual honesty <em>(Lunaria biennis)<\/em> and the bright red calyces of the <a class=\"encyclopedia\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.plantenplagen.nl\/en\/plantenplagen\/physalis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lantern plant<\/a> <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plantenplagen.nl\/en\/plantenplagen\/physalis\/\" target=\"_blank\" title='[vc_row][vc_column width=\"2\/3\"][vc_column_text el_id=\"topentry\" el_class=\"topentry\"]Physalis is a plant in the nightshade family. There are a few species of physalis, but the Physalis alkekengi is the variety planted in gardens in Europe.
