The weevil is emerald green and has long, thin antennae with a particularly bulbous tip. The wing cases (elytra) are striped.
\nThe green immigrant leaf weevil can be found in wooded banks, parks and wastelands. Host plants are birch<\/a> and deciduous trees such as oak<\/a>, beech<\/a>, hawthorn<\/a> and Prunus species. The beetle is active from May to early August. They live on the leaf and flower buds, young leaves and fruits. Damage by this beetle is mainly optical: corky scars on the skin of fruits.
\nAfter mating in the spring, the weevils lay eggs in small groups or per single egg in the ground. Sometimes also in the bark of the host plant. The larvae develop into summer and feed on plant roots. By late summer or early fall, the larvae are adults.
