The common spangle gall causes the +4<\/u> mm lens gall on the underside of the leaf. The galles are flat on one side and flat on the other side with an elevation. Often yellow dots can be seen on the top of the leaf where the galls attach to the underside of the leaf. The gall turns from yellow to rusty brown during the season. In autumn, they are often found in large numbers under oaks.
\nThe galls contain the larvae. The galls fall from the leaves before the leaves detach from the tree in autumn. On the ground, the larvae hibernate in the galls to emerge as insects in May.
\nThe common spangle galls do not do much damage, although a tree may weaken a bit if all the leaves are covered with galls.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row equal_height=”yes”][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Where to find” font_container=”tag:h4|text_align:center|color:%23ffffff” google_fonts=”font_family:Lato%3A100%2C100italic%2C300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic%2C900%2C900italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal” css=”.vc_custom_1537946500082{background-color: #536895 !important;}”][vc_column_text el_id=”entrytxt” el_class=”entrytxt” css=”.vc_custom_1681203804669{padding-left: 15px !important;}”]<\/p>\n
\n
English <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plantenplagen.nl\/en\/plantenplagen\/oak\/\" target=\"_blank\" title='[vc_row][vc_column width=\"2\/3\"][vc_column_text el_id=\"topentry\" el_class=\"topentry\"]Oak, deciduous tree growing up to 20–40m tall.
