The fungus affects ash trees. The fungus lives off the tree&rsquo;s wood, branches and leaves.<br>\n<em>Hymenoscyphus fraxineus<\/em> is an exotic species and is native to East Asia. Ash dieback was first spotted in Poland and Lithuania in 1990.
