Not an easy cultivation. Sow in March/April under glass, in the greenhouse or on the windowsill. Need heat to germinate. When the seed has germinated, do not immediately plant in the garden, but first pot it up and let it get used to our cool climate in a sheltered place. Only plant in the ground at the end of May in a sheltered, sunny spot. Artichokes are sensitive to frost. Covering is then necessary. Artichokes are perennial and not hardy. In winter it is advisable to cover the rhizomes. Harvest in August/September, but not in the first year.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row equal_height=”yes”][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Bugs” font_container=”tag:h4|text_align:center|color:%23ffffff” google_fonts=”font_family:Lato%3A100%2C100italic%2C300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C700%2C700italic%2C900%2C900italic|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal” css=”.vc_custom_1532164328547{background-color: #585858 !important;}”][vc_column_text el_class=”entrytxt”]

<a href="https://www.plantenplagen.nl/en/plantenplagen/earwig/" target="_blank" title='[vc_row][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_column_text el_id="topentry" el_class="topentry"]Earwig, crawling insect susceptible to desiccation. Artichoke does not like to stand in soggy soil, the roots will rot if the soil is too wet. Do not water too much artichokes (in pots and in the ground). A good splash of water every week during the growing season is enough to keep the soil moist. In dry periods also keep the soil slightly moist.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[653

post-10959","encyclopedia","type-encyclopedia","status-publish","hentry","encyclopedia-category-vegetable-garden
["GET
