The insect and caterpillar then stop eating and die of starvation after a few days.<br>\nControlling caterpillars with <em>Bacillus thuringiensis<\/em> only works if the caterpillars eat leaves sprayed with Bt toxin. Young caterpillars are generally more sensitive than old caterpillars.<br>\n<em>Bacillus thuringiensis<\/em> is not harmful for humans, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plantenplagen.nl\/en\/plantenplagen\/birds\/\" target=\"_blank\" title='[vc_row][vc_column width=\"2\/3\"][vc_column_text el_id=\"topentry\" el_class=\"topentry\"]Birds eat snails, beetles and caterpillars as well as the newly sown beans and the almost-ripe cherries and grapes.
