Habitat<\/strong>
\nAnnual meadow grass is a very successful crossing of two meadow grasses<\/a>: Poa infirma<\/em> and Poa supina<\/em>. This crossing has spread worldwide and is very common in Great Britain and Ireland.<\/p>\n

Control<\/strong>
\nAnnual meadow grass is difficult to control. Between tiles and paving stones it must be removed manually. In the (vegetable) garden it is easy to hoe or pull out. Meadow grass in the lawn is almost unavoidable: the wind carries the seed and it germinates already at 7°C. Still too disruptive in the lawn? Do not mow the lawn for a while, let it grow high ( +<\/u> 10 cm) and then mow it short ( +<\/u> 5 cm). Repeat until the annual meadow grass is gone. Because annual meadow grass does not tolerate drought well and has shallow roots ( +<\/u> 10 cm), it disappears in dry summers if the lawn is not irrigated and dries out slightly.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”10373″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” onclick=”img_link_large”][vc_column_text el_id=”entrytxt” el_class=”entrytxt”]Annual meadow grass is not poisonous but also not edible for humans, because we cannot digest it.
